UUI, or urge urinary incontinence, is no fun.
I usually hear something like this: “I’m totally fine and then as soon as I get to the porch and put the key in the door, that is when I have a strong urge and cannot control my bladder”.
Thankfully, there are many lifestyle changes that you can make to improve your situation! I suggest performing a few pelvic floor contractions when the urge comes, maintaining calmness, and slowly make your way to the bathroom while waiting for the extreme urge to pass. The more you rush, the more your sympathetic nervous system shouts at you, the harder it is to control your bladder.
Pelvic floor manual therapy, dry needling, and exercise interventions make a significant difference with this condition, too.
Please reach out if this scenario describes you, as I’d love to help you find control of your life and bladder again!
